At Baldervoll Fruit and Wine Farm, we grow wine grapes where many said it couldn't be done: 61.1 degrees north, right at the edge of Norway's Sognefjord.

The soil in Leikanger is old and rich. Some of our vines stand just ten metres from the water's edge, roots reaching into sediment the sea left behind. We believe it gives the grapes a character all their own.

Other vines grow higher up the hillside, on a slope angled just right toward the sun — and the fjord's mirror-like reflection.

Norway's long summer light, together with reflections off the fjord, brings slow ripening and a distinctive freshness.

We farm by organic principles. To us, that means treating the farm as one living system — soil, plants and the rhythm of the seasons, all connected.

No synthetic pesticides, no artificial fertiliser. Honeybees on-site. The more alive the soil, the more complex the character in the grape.
